Kathy Harris grew up squarely in the middle of her family of seven, and amidst the chaos of four brothers and sisters found her peace in quietly playing on her own and entertaining herself. Fast forward to today, and that quiet little girl is now a thoughtful listener who pays close attention to everyone around her.
Kathy’s career path growing up was not something front and center for her; she knew she wanted a family, and didn’t think a lot beyond that. Then, as a parent, she looked around to see what she could do and how she could contribute, with a completely open mind and that ability to listen, alert for opportunities.
Kathy met Carol Rogers, and in a story that zig-zags quite a bit went from being her manicurist to pulling weeds in the gardens to fixing crown molding in the office to filing statements and carefully, thoughtfully catching errors that were important to catch. This ability to observe, adapt, and then help is what makes Kathy great at her job…happily behind the scenes assisting the team who she truly considers her second family, making sure the “trains run on time”.
One thing you might not immediately suspect about Kathy is her love for power tools; she is fearless when it comes to home improvement and single-handedly remodeled her bathroom (she credits her husband with an assist on the heavy tub). She’s actually inspired other in the office to test their limits with power tools, and she and her husband are certainly favorite-neighbor status on their street—Kathy helps with fix-it projects and her husband is the go-to for car problems.
Kathy’s now a happy grandma (a grandma with power tools, to be sure) and wouldn’t change a thing about where her life has brought her.
